The best posts on this site have started with a reader sending in something we should have been watching. A bill nobody is reporting on. A headline that sounds off. A quiet change to a law the papers did not bother flagging. A personal story that makes an official line impossible to keep a straight face about. If you have one of those, send it in.
How to reach us

Everything gets read. Not everything gets replied to — there are only so many hours in a day — but nothing gets ignored.
What we want
- Tips. Bills before Parliament nobody is covering. Local stories with national weight. Stuff you have noticed that the papers have not.
- Corrections. If we have got a number wrong, a date wrong, or a quote wrong — say so plainly. We will fix it plainly.
- Requests. If there is a topic you want worked up in plain English, tell us what it is. We cannot promise every one, but good requests go on the list.
- Crap you have caught. An official claim you ran through common sense and found rotten. Send us the claim and your notes.
What we will not do with your email
- We do not sell addresses. Ever.
- We do not share them. Ever.
- If you write in, you are not auto-subscribed to anything.
- If you send something confidential, we treat it as confidential. If you do not want a name used, we will not use it.
A note on legal threats
If you are a lawyer writing on behalf of a firm, a politician, or a public figure who thinks the site has said something defamatory — read it first, make sure you understand what we actually wrote (as opposed to what somebody told you we wrote), and then email the above address. We do not delete criticism of public figures because it stings. We will correct anything that is demonstrably factually wrong. That is the whole of the policy.
